St. Mere Eglise
The night before the invasion 82nd Airborne parachuted into St. Mere Eglise and liberated the town. One trooper had his parachute caught on the Church steeple. A replica of the soldier and parachute is kept on the steeple as a tribute to the Americans. Note the stain glass inside the church shows the paratroopers landing.
